How did you find Lagree Fitness and why does it resonate with you?
About six years ago, one of my best friends, Lacey, invited me to take her mock class as she was currently in training to become a Lagree Fitness Instructor. I watched a class before getting on the machine. I remember watching the clients in French Twist and thinking to myself, "There's no way my body can do that." Well, my body was capable, after all. This workout makes me feel stronger in body and mind. How can you not get hooked? Two years later, after becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, I was convinced to become a Lagree Fitness Instructor as well. I was almost reluctant because I had some doubt about my skills as a teacher. I ended up falling in love with teaching. It completes me!
How would you describe your teaching style?
My style is encouraging, informative, and upbeat. I like to let everyone know what particular muscles they're working and why. Also, music is everything to me when it comes to motivating people to do their best during their workout. So I look for energizing beats and I often throw in some confidence-boosting songs to remind people they are stronger than they realize.
What's your favorite post workout nosh?
My favorite post workout snack is a large scoop of Vega Coconut Almond nutrition powder, mixed with a banana and soy milk. On days when I've trained my legs heavily, I eat a lot more carbs, such as brown rice, yams, or even mac and cheeze! (I'm a proud vegan by the way!)
If you were to give one workout tip to your clients, what would it be?
Enjoy the process in the moment. When you focus on the sensations in your body as you perform each move and remind yourself that those sensations are making you stronger, leaner, and healthier, motivation and determine will follow and you will see results a lot faster than you think!
